目前研究主要集中在以下两个方向：
1. 超分辨显微成像新技术、新方法
最近几年发展的超高分辨显微成像技术让人们在纳米尺度观察蛋白在细胞中的精确定位。然而，这些技术在细胞生物学中的广泛应用还需要在空间分辨率、时间分辨率以及蛋白标记技术等方面进一步提高。本研究组将通过发展新的算法和光学仪器，发展新的超高分辨显微成像技术和光镜电镜相关显微成像技术。所发展的新技术方法将用于解答重要的生命科学问题。
2. 囊泡转运分子机制研究
血糖调控涉及胰岛素囊泡的释放和葡萄糖转运体的上膜过程，这两个过程都需要囊泡的参与，主要涉及分泌胰岛素的大致密核心囊泡（DCV）和摄取葡萄糖的葡萄糖转运体4（GLUT4）储存囊泡（GSV）。本研究组主要发现参与这些囊泡转运的关键调控蛋白，并结合光学成像、电生理和生化检测等方法，以线虫、小鼠等多种模式生物研究这些蛋白在细胞中的定位，以及它们参与调控囊泡转运、锚定、启动和融合过程的分子机制。
